Illustration promoting Oregon Child Advocate to bridge opportunity gaps for children in Columbia County.

OREGON CHILD ADVOCATE

We close the opportunity gap for kids in Columbia County by connecting them to the resources they need to hit milestones, learn life skills, and succeed. Because often, the only thing standing between a child’s potential and their future is a bridge—we are here to build it.

BRIDGING THE GAPS. FILLING THE NEEDS.

Our mission is to spark the transformation that happens when a child moves from just 'getting by' to truly feeling like they belong and have everything they need to thrive.

OUR IMPACT

Foster Kids Christmas Gifts

  • The Need: Community members were eager to support local children in foster care during the holidays but lacked a direct way to provide meaningful, personal gifts.

  • The Bridge: Oregon Child Advocate created "Wish Tags" and partnered with six local businesses to host them on their holiday trees.

  • The Outcome: Every single wish was fulfilled by our generous community, and OCA hand-delivered the gifts to ODHS to ensure a bright Christmas for our local foster youth.

Titanic Immersive Experience Field Trip

  • The Need: The Clatskanie Elementary 5th grade class was studying the history of the Titanic, but the $1,000 cost for the 2026 OMSI Titanic Exhibit made the trip financially impossible for many local families.

  • The Bridge: Oregon Child advocate bridged the funding gap by securing a $500 sponsorship from Clatskanie PUD and a $250 sponsorship from Clatskanie Kiwanis, while supporting a teacher’s successful school trip grant application.

  • The Outcome: Because the community joined forces, the entire 5th grade class is able to attend the immersive exhibit and walk through the sections of the ship they had been studying.
  • Kids Insights:   They loved discovering their assigned identities on their boarding passes, learning about life in the different passenger classes, touching the chilling hands-on iceberg display, and ultimately finding out whether they survived the journey
